No matter what type of blog you have, the concept of
making money with a site that you created is something everyone would
love to accomplish. The world of blogging is competitive and tough. When
you start a blog you are instantly thrown into the mix of over 100
million other blogs and every day is a fight to get more traffic back to
your site.
If you think getting people to your site is an issue, then you will have an even harder time trying to make money with your blog. However, just like everything else, all bloggers start from ZERO… both in traffic and in revenue made from their site.
Once you learn how to start creating quality content, build backlinks
and monetize your content — then you will truly understand the concept
of becoming a pro blogger.
Below I’ve made a quick and dirty list of three of the best ways new
bloggers can start testing their blog with monetization and maybe even
earning a few dollars in the process. Remember… these are very simple
methods and most of you are already probably well aware of them.
Google Adsense
Google is the most popular search engine in the world and they make
nearly all of their $30 BILLION dollars per year in revenue from search
advertisements. It’s not only the search engines that is making them all
of this money, but also their Google Adsense program
that serves advertisements across millions of sites on the internet.
Google does all of the ad serving, buying, transactions and tracking. As
a blog owner, all you need to do is join the Google Adsense affiliate
program, throw a line of code on your site and you are ready to go! You
will then earn a commission every time someone clicks on one of your
Google Adsense links.
Affiliate Marketing
If you have a blog that references any specific products or services,
you may be surprised to learn that a lot of people are actually
clicking your product links and buying through your site. What will be
even more surprising is that you could be making money from all of these
referrals instead of linking to other sites for free. Affiliate
marketing is the concept of getting paid a commission
to have an action or sale take place. Amazon.com, eBay and thousands of
other sites have affiliate programs of their own and are paying out
billions of dollars every year to their site partners. To see if your
favorite sites have affiliate programs, all you need to do is scroll to
the bottom of their site and look for an “affiliate program” link. You
can also type the site name into Google and also add “affiliate
program”.
Direct Ad Sales
Just like you want traffic to your blog, so do the billions of other
sites on the internet. Since we are all sharing this massive pool of
internet users, the best way to get new traffic to your site is through
the use of ad campaigns (specifically placing banner ads on other
sites). If you already have traffic flowing through your site, then you
could start selling banner ads
directly on your site. Pricing would vary based on banner size, niche
market and how much traffic you are getting. If you are already serving
Google Adsense on your site, you could see what type of ads are
appearing and then try to contact these advertisers (and their
competitors) directly to see if they would like to buy advertising right
on your site.
Make Money Blogging by Testing Your Audience
At the end of the day there are hundreds of different ways to make
money with a blog, some working better than others. The difference
between what works and what doesn’t actually comes down to what your
audience wants. Try different content, ad campaigns and offers. Your
audience will determine the success of advertising on your site. Always
focus on user experience and having the perfect mix of content and
monetization.
